La Peña presents “Between the Body and the Soul” an exhibit of
artwork by Alberto Padilla. The show will be on display at Las Manitas Avenue Café May 24th through June 30th with a
reception on Friday, June 1st from 6 – 8 pm.
From an early
age Alberto Padilla had the necessity to express himself through painting. Art
has been a part of his entire life because he was born and grew up in a place
full of beliefs, tradition, and color. His work is a result of his origin in El
Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico. Padilla’s paintings have a tint of softness, melancholy,
romanticism, and innocence combined with interplay between colors, faces, and
masks that reflect the human experience. Through his exploration of the figure,
his passion is to discover and transplant the complex, abstract inner worlds
that exist inside each of us onto canvas. His greatest satisfaction comes with
the ability to transmit feeling through form and color.
Over the
course of his career Alberto Padilla has worked as a drawing teacher in Centro Bachillerato de Estudios in Cd. Constitucion, B.C.S., Mexico,
exhibited his paintings in Mexico, Spain, France, and the United States, and
has been published in several newspapers and magazines.
